Junhao is focussing on addressing challenges in predicting the installation of drag anchors for offshore floating platforms. His work includes developing a Reliability Based Assessment framework to optimise anchor design and studying side loading effects on drag anchors to assess reliability under extreme conditions.

Helen’s research focuses on the performance of suction caissons as a foundation option for jacket supported offshore wind turbines in carbonate soils.

Lilli is a PhD student researching monopile foundations in carbonate sands for offshore wind applications. Her work combines centrifuge testing and numerical modelling to explore installation and cyclic loading effects, aiming to enhance predictions of monopile performance in carbonate sediments typical of Australian offshore environments.

Sam’s research interests include the use of both physical and advanced numerical modelling techniques to better understand geotechnical mechanisms. He is currently investigating the behaviour of drag anchors in intermediate soils, and how their capacity evolves over their design life.

Jianhua is a PhD student working on Suction Embedded Plate Anchors (SEPLAs) for floating offshore wind turbines in sands and intermediate soils.

Wirman’s research focuses on helical anchors for floating offshore wind applications. He is developing a new helical anchor concept that reduces torque requirements and is suited to both vertical and lateral loading.

Zahra is examining the use of freefall penetrometers to measure strength and consolidation parameters in a range of seabed types. Her research involves freefall penetrometer tests and push-in penetrometer tests in the varied sediments encountered in the riverbed of the Swan River in Perth.

Qianbiao is exploring the effect of spatial variability and uncertainty of soil with data-centric/machine learning techniques to optimize offshore infrastructure design. This study will mitigate conservative design and the risk arising from uncertainty, with ultimately overall cost reduction in offshore geotechnical engineering.
